Restricted Access Barriers Systems (RABs)

Separating the operator from the product to improve product protection is an increasing trend in the pharmaceutical industry worldwide. RAB’s are used within aseptic processing as they offer effective product protection by providing a high level of separation between operators and the critical aseptic core. The provided product protection approaches that of an isolator and is a usual barrier system of choice in some applications.

RAB’s are used within aseptic processing as they offer effective product protection by providing a high level of separation between operators and the critical aseptic core.

Open or Closed Restricted Access Barriers (oRAB’s /cRAB’s) provide an alternative to isolator technology where a leak tight option is not necessary but the need for enhanced product protection in a grade B room is still required. The product protection is obtained by using a combination of a physical barrier and dynamic airflow.

We provide our Clients with RAB’s that have the following specifications and options:

  • Flexibility in design and potential third-party equipment integration.
  • Compliance with current regulatory standards and GMP guidelines.
  • Unidirectional laminar flow design (active RAB’s).
  • ISO 5 positive pressure environment over the critical aseptic area.
  • Aseptic transfer methods for powders, components, and liquids.
  • Temperature & RH monitoring or conditioning.
  • Environmental monitoring of viable / non-viable particles.
  • PLC controlled operating system with local HMI or integrated other Telstar’s or third-party equipment.
